A Barren County man is facing multiple charges after holding a woman at knifepoint followed by a standoff with police.

The Cave City Police Department responded Monday morning at approximately 2:00 to a reckless driver complaint on Mammoth Cave Road. The 911 caller stated that a red Ford Ranger was driving dangerously and someone was “leaning” out of the driver’s door.

Police made contact with the truck and conducted a traffic stop and observed a man, 60-year-old Bobby R. Logsdon, of Cave City, holding a large knife to a female’s throat. Logsdon told officers that if they came closer, he would cut the woman’s throat, according to police.

Officers ordered Logsdon to drop the weapon, but he instead climbed over the woman into the passenger seat and ordered her to drive away. Police then, on Happy Valley Road, conducted a second traffic stop. After about an hour of negotiating, Logsdon surrendered.

He was charged with kidnapping (adult), second-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Logsdon was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.

Assisting Cave City police were the Barren County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police.
