A second murder-suicide in less than a week has taken the lives of a Rockcastle County couple.

Wednesday night at approximately 10:20, Kentucky State Police responded to a domestic dispute at a home on Copper Creek Road. Upon arriving at the residence, troopers discovered the bodies of Michael D. Collinsworth, 47, and his wife, Tonya L. Collinsworth, 45, both of Mt. Vernon.

“During the investigation, it was determined Michael shot his wife, Tonya, and then turned the weapon on himself,” Kentucky State Police said. Both suffered fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office.

Both bodies were transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsies.

On Thursday evening, March 23, the Madisonville Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Echo Lane where officers found Donald W. Hundley, 62, and his wife, Jayne M. Hundley, 63, deceased.

Jayne Hundley had suffered two gunshot wounds, while Donald Hundley was shot once.

Police said it appears Jayne Hundley discovered the couple was having financial problems, resulting in Donald Hundley shooting his wife before turning the gun on himself.

Jayne Hundley was Senior VP of Marketing at First United Bank and Adjunct Professor at Madisonville Community College, according to her obituary. She was previously recognized as Lions Club Woman of the Year and Nike Business Professional Woman of the Year.
