A Leitchfield man with previous felony drug convictions and two arrest warrants has been jailed on drug charges after being spotted walking along a Leitchfield street.
Dominic Dichiara, 23, was arrested Sunday evening at approximately 5:40 by Leitchfield Police Officers Ty Whitaker and Chuck Hoover.
Whitaker, while on regular patrol, saw Dichiara walking along Mill Street. The officer knew Dichiara had two active warrants for his arrest out of Grayson Circuit Court, according to the arrest citation.
During a search of the suspect, police located methamphetamine.
The citation states that Dichiara displayed “extremely dilated” pupils, with the suspect telling police he recently smoked methamphetamine.
He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and public intoxication (excludes alcohol) and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Upon arriving at the home, police made contact with Dichiara when Franklin, after the suspect placed his hands in his pockets, asked him if he “had anything on his person.” Dichiara responded that “it was in his pocket,” the citation states.
Franklin then found about two grams of methamphetamine in Dichiara’s pants pocket.
In that case, Dichiara was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Additionally, he was convicted in May 2021 in Grayson County for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and tampering with physical evidence after a March 2021 arrest, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
He is on parole until September 2026.
