Two cars plunged into the Ohio River in Louisville in the span of 10 hours.

The first vehicle entered the river at approximately 11:00 Tuesday night in the Great Lawn area near Waterfront Park, according to WLKY.com.

The second vehicle was driven into the river at the Shawnee Boat Ramp at 9:00 Wednesday morning. Witnesses said the driver did not attempt to get out of the car.

The Louisville Metro Police Department Air and River Units, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, attempted to find the drivers but search efforts were called off due to a strong current and high water levels making rescue efforts too dangerous.

Search efforts will continue once conditions improve.
