There has been a train derailment in downtown Glendale.
The CSX train derailed at approximately 2:50 Thursday afternoon as it tried to avoid hitting a tractor-trailer that was caught on the tracks at Gideon Church Road crossing. The train, carrying new vehicles, was able to stop before hitting the truck but eight cars left the tracks, Hardin County Sheriff John Ward told media outlets.
One injury has been reported.
“The Hwy 222 and Hwy 1136 railroad crossing areas are blocked in Glendale … Hwy 1136 to the south (Gilead Church Road) is also blocked at that crossing. There is no time estimate available for reopening these crossings,” the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said.
