A Hardin County man has been indicted on six child porn distribution charges following a Kentucky State Police investigation.
A Hardin County Grand Jury, according to The News-Enterprise, indicted 38-year-old David M. Smith, of Elizabethtown, on six counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance.
The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch originally arrested Smith in late August 2022 after police discovered Smith was sharing images of child exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in a search warrant being served at Smith’s residence where equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.
While being interrogated by state police investigators, Smith admitted he distributed, possessed and viewed child pornography.
He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center but has since posted a $10,000 bond.
