An Ohio County man has been arrested on drug possession and trafficking charges after being found passed out in a vehicle.

Sunday morning at approximately 7:30, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a person passed out in a vehicle at the Fastway gas station in Centertown, Sheriff Adam Wright said.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies and Kentucky State Police observed a methamphetamine pipe containing the drug and marijuana in plain view near the vehicle’s shifter. Police made contact with 31-year-old Dwayne Hackney, of Centertown, and placed him under arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, police located a 9mm handgun, a large quantity of cash, marijuana, scales, and other drug paraphernalia, Wright said.

Hackney was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, DUI (controlled substance), possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to wear a seat belt along with non-moving violations.

He was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
