An Ohio County man who advanced on deputies while holding two knives after assaulting a neighbor is facing multiple felony charges.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office responded to an assault in the 7600 block of Hwy 62 in Rockport. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies made contact with the victim, “who had serious injuries to the head and was transported to the hospital by Ohio County EMS,” Sheriff Adam Wright said.
Deputies soon found the alleged assailant, 26-year-old Billy Decker, of Beaver Dam, sitting outside a neighboring residence.
Police said Decker was armed with two knives and ignored deputies’ commands to drop his weapon, as he made threats of suicide by cop. Decker, armed with the knives, then advanced on deputies as one deputy deployed a taser, causing Decker to drop the weapons.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
Decker was transported to Ohio County Hospital for injuries sustained prior to deputies’ arrival on scene. He was treated and released and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center where he’s been charged with second-degree assault, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and third-degree criminal mischief.
