An eastern Kentucky man is facing a murder charge in the death of his girlfriend’s toddler.

Jordan B. Taylor, 22, of Corbin, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of three-year-old Amoura M. Smallwood. She suffered brain bleeds and was bruised all over her body from blunt force trauma.

Police say she was beaten at her home in Woodbine in Whitley County by Taylor while the child’s mother was away.

The toddler was found unresponsive at her residence and transported to Baptist Health Corbin where she was pronounced deceased, Kentucky State Police said.

Taylor is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.

According to online records, Taylor has been arrested at least 15 times since 2019 on charges including assault, domestic violence assault, theft by unlawful taking, first-degree terroristic threatening, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), possession of a defaced firearm, and menacing.
