A Leitchfield man arrested on a warrant has been caught attempting to bring drugs into the Grayson County Detention Center.
On Sunday evening, Leitchfield Police Officer Chuck Hoover arrested 26-year-old Jeremiah F. Jackson on an outstanding Hardin County warrant and transported the suspect to the detention center.
“During the jail search and changing of clothes, the deputy jailer discovered … methamphetamine in the subject’s socks,” according to the arrest citation. The deputy jailer also found methamphetamine on Jackson in a cigarette pack’s “plastic wrapper.”
Jackson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and first-degree promoting contraband. He remains in the Grayson County Detention Center.
This marks at least the second time in less than two weeks that someone attempted to bring drugs into the detention center.
In mid-February, a Leitchfield man previously charged with trying to bring drugs into the GCDC was again caught with drugs inside the jail.
Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. DJ Newton arrested 60-year-old Michael Clark on February 16 on a Grayson County indictment warrant charging him with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine, methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and promoting contraband (attempting to bring contraband into the detention center).
Newton transported Clark to the detention center and, according to the arrest citation, asked Clark if “there was anything illegal on his person.” Newton also reminded Clark that he was caught trying to bring drugs into the jail in his sock on a previous occasion.
Clark denied having anything illegal on his person, but during a search a deputy jailer located a methamphetamine pipe containing methamphetamine in the suspect’s possession.
In addition to the indictment warrant, Clark was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), promoting contraband, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
