Day after resigning, school superintendent arrested for trying to bring gun onto school property

A former eastern Kentucky superintendent has been accused of attempting to bring a firearm onto school property.

McCreary County Schools Superintendent John Gunn was observed on surveillance video early Tuesday morning trying to enter the school board building with a handgun. At the time of his arrest, Gunn admitted to police he had a firearm.

Gunn had unexpectedly submitted his resignation to the school board on Monday evening, according to WBIR.com. It was accepted by a 3-2 vote.

Gunn was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
