Two young Breckinridge County residents have been killed in a single-vehicle accident, giving the county three vehicle accident-related fatalities over a two-day period.

Monday morning at approximately 7:00, the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash on Hwy 259 north near the intersection with Finley Dowell Road, just north of Hardinsburg, according to a report by WXBC1043.com.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found that a 2004 Mazda, being driven by 24-year-old Kevin Rachau, of Hardinsburg, was traveling at a high rate of speed when Rachau lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree and traveled down an embankment.

Rachau and his passenger and brother, 20-year-old William Rachau, also of Hardinsburg, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.

In another fatality accident on Sunday, a Breckinridge County teen was killed and another injured in a dirt bike crash.

Sunday afternoon, the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, Hardinsburg Fire Department and EMS responded to the crash in the 4300 block of Old Railroad Road, about three miles south of McQuady.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found two teens, ages 15 and 14, were riding dirt bikes when the older teen’s bike struck the back of the 14-year-old’s bike. The collision resulted in both teens being tossed from the dirt bikes.

The 15-year-old boy was pronounced deceased at the scene while the younger teen was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital suffering from multiple injuries.
