An existing bus driver shortage conspired with a basketball tournament to cause a western Kentucky school district to cancel classes.
There was no school on Wednesday and Thursday in Crittenden County when the Crittenden County High School girls basketball team played in the Kentucky All “A” Classic in Richmond.
According to the Crittenden Press, several bus drivers “have connections to the basketball program,” and will be traveling to the Eastern Kentucky University campus for the annual tournament, “thereby creating a shortage of drivers …”
School officials, who originally called for Wednesday and Thursday to be NTI Days, later cancelled classes.
Crittenden County lost Wednesday night to Bethlehem, 71-55, in the opening round of the tournament, as school officials now do not have to make a decision on whether to hold classes on Friday.
