A Head Start school bus has crashed in Wolfe County.
The accident occurred Thursday morning on Landshaw Road sometime between 8:00 and 8:30, according to a report by WYMT.com. Nine students were on the bus. They were all taken from the accident scene by their parents, as none of the children suffered major injuries.
Middle Kentucky Head Start Director Chris Holiday told WYMT.com that officials do not yet know the cause of the wreck.
This accident comes less than two months after a November 14, 2022, school bus crash in Magoffin County that injured 18 students. Two students and the driver, Wanda Bailey, suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to hospitals.
Two lawsuits have been filed by parents of some of the injured students. The most recent lawsuit, filed just this week, claims negligence on the part of the school board and school district as well as Bailey.
The lawsuit claims, among other accusations, that Bailey may have fallen asleep at the wheel before crashing down an embankment. It further explains that Bailey had finished working a late night shift at a convenience store just hours prior to the crash, and failed to get enough sleep.
