Police find ‘improvised explosive device’ in downtown Bardstown

Officials have found an explosive device in downtown Bardstown.

According to the Bardstown Police Department, Friday morning at approximately 8:30, officers responded to the 300 block of North First Street on the report of a suspicious device.

Upon arriving at the scene, about four blocks from the Bardstown town square, authorities located “what appeared to be an improvised explosive device and other explosive paraphernalia,” according to police.

Kentucky State Police and the Louisville Metro Police Bomb Squad then responded to the scene and removed the “explosive and other suspicious materials.”

The Bardstown PD and ATF are conducting a joint investigation into the matter.
