A woman has been jailed in Breckinridge County after giving birth to a baby in a drug house who tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police arrested 38-year-old Erica Steinhauer, of Philpot, on Monday and charged her with first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal abuse.

According to a report by WDRB.com, the Cloverport Police Chief, Christopher Woosley, said the birth occurred on November 25 in a bathtub in a “drug house.” The baby was hospitalized after officers arrived at the home and discovered the newborn baby.

He told the Louisville television station the “child continues to recover.”

An arrest warrant was issued for Steinhauer on Friday. She was arrested in Owensboro.

Steinbauer is being held in the Breckinridge County Detention Center.
