A Caneyville man arrested in June, July and September of this year has been collared on a drug trafficking charge.
Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:00, Grayson County Deputy Wally Ritter was assisting Kentucky State Police at a traffic safety checkpoint in Caneyville at the intersection of Hwy 79 and Hwy 62, known popularly as the Caneyville four-way stop.
While making contact with a vehicle, police observed 40-year-old Jody Eugene Embry, of Caneyville, in the back seat. The front seat passenger, 36-year-old Louis Jones, of Roundhill, who had a warrant for his arrest, fled police on foot but was quickly captured by KSP Sgt. Blake Owens and other troopers, according to the arrest citation
During a search of Jones, police located methamphetamine and arrested the suspect.
Ritter then had Embry exit the vehicle, and during a search police located a large amount of methamphetamine in three baggies in his pants pocket, the citation states.
Embry was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and first-degree persistent felony offender.
Jones was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police (on foot), and third-degree assault of a police officer. He was also served with a parole violation warrant.
Both suspects were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Embry, who has a previous conviction for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in Grayson County, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was most recently arrested in September in Butler County after being caught riding a stolen motorcycle. Police also found an unspecified drug on Embry during the arrest.
In July, Embry was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and in June he was jailed on two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), first-degree criminal mischief, and reckless driving.
In total, Embry has been arrested nearly 20 times since 2010 on charges ranging from possession of and manufacturing methamphetamine, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first- and second-degree wanton endangerment, drug trafficking, tampering with physical evidence, criminal mischief, fleeing or evading police, and escape.
Additionally, in May of this year, Embry was indicted in Grayson County for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
He was also indicted in Butler County earlier this year for fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Butler County Jail.
