Susan Joan Rhodes, age 72, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (November 19, 2022) at her residence surrounded by her family who loved her. She was born on March 12, 1950 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late John T.
and Caroline Broska Habicht.
She had worked in the school system as a nurse to handicap children. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and walking to church. She loved her family and treasured her grandchildren. Susan’s life was all about prayer. She was a prayer warrior and loved God. She attended church every day. She always treated people equally, no matter their status in life.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society and Divine Mercy Chaplet Prayer Group. She was awarded the Sophia Award for her exceptional work at the church. Her life was not about being seen or noticed, but about helping others.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Rhodes of Leitchfield; her children, Harry Rhodes (Rochelle) of Rhode Island and Patricia Collard (Kevin) of Leitchfield; grandchildren, Shea, Harrison, Chloe, Forrest, Kale and Meadow; sister, Carol McClellan and brother, John Habicht; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Habicht.
Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, (November 22, 2022) at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield. Father Sinoj Paul Pynadath, HGN, will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday until time of services at the church.
Rosary will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 11:15 a.m. before leaving for the church.
