A woman has been arrested after being found living in a Bullitt County motel with a deceased male.
Nicole McFall, 45, was arrested by the Hillview Police Department Wednesday night November 9 after officers responded to a room at the Quality Inn in Brooks to conduct a welfare check.
Upon arriving at the motel, police detected a strong odor in the hallway that appeared to originate from the room in question. Officers made contact with McFall, who was in the room, and where police discovered the decomposing body of 57-year-old Charles Scheitlin Jr., of Indiana, on a bed, covered by a blanket, according to multiple media outlets.
McFall, who had been staying with Scheitlin at the motel for weeks, had lit several candles in an effort to mask the smell. She told police she had been living with the body in the room for nearly a week and didn’t know what to do.
Hillview PD Det. Scott Barrow told news outlets that no signs of trauma were observed on Sheitlin’s body, which was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville where officials will determine the cause death.
McFall was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse, failure to report the death of a person, tampering with physical evidence, and theft of services. She was lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.
