A Hardin County woman allegedly under the influence of drugs has been arrested after she struck a vehicle head-on, killing an infant and toddler and seriously injuring their pregnant mother.

Angela H. Chapman, 42, of Radcliff, has been charged with two counts of murder, first-degree assault and DUI.

Chapman is accused of being on drugs when she crossed the center line of Dixie Highway (Hwy 31-W) in West Point, striking a vehicle and killing two small children, ages one- and two-years-old, according to media reports. Their 28-year-old mother, who was driving and is pregnant, was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital where she’s listed in serious condition.

Hardin County Sheriff John Ward told news outlets that the children were properly restrained in the back seat of the vehicle.

The family is from Louisville and was on their way home from church, Ward said.

Chapman was not injured in the crash. She is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
