A Kentucky State Police Post 4 trooper residing in Grayson County has been promoted by the agency.
Trooper Blake Owens was promoted to sergeant. Owens, along with 30 other troopers promoted since November 1, 2021, was recognized by Kentucky State Police leadership and Gov. Andy Beshear at a ceremony earlier this week.
In June 2019, Owens was recognized by then-Gov. Matt Bevin and then-Justice Secretary John Tilley after being selected KSP Post 16 Trooper of the Year for his outstanding service to the citizens of Kentucky and “acts of bravery, professionalism and dedication to duty.”
Owens, a 2013 graduate of the University of Kentucky and Frankfort native, joined KSP in 2015.
“We owe each trooper and officer a debt of gratitude for sacrificing their lives for a better Kentucky. Thank you for wearing the badge of honor, creating safer communities and being on Team Kentucky,” Beshear said.
During the ceremony KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett, Jr. also encouraged the recently promoted troopers to continue leading by example, putting integrity and honesty first and making Kentucky’s safety the utmost priority.
“As I look out at you today, I see leaders who will continually instill the highest levels of professionalism into those they lead,” Burnett stated. “I see leaders that will ensure those they lead provide public safety for all citizens of the commonwealth. I am proud of the work you have put into this promotional process and look forward to seeing how you will impact this agency.”
