A non-compliant sex offender convicted of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 has been arrested by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday night at approximately 9:45, the sheriff’s office received information on the location of 83-year-old Russell Howard Cook, according to Sheriff Norman Chaffins.

Cook, who was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in Grayson County, was located by Deputy Nick Pruitt on Tilford Drive in Falls of Rough. Cook’s last known address, according to the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, was 4907 Kendall Road in Louisville.

Chaffins said that according to the Louisville Metro Police Department warrant, Cook is a 20-year registrant on the sex offender registry.

“Cook failed to return his address verification form to KSP and was found to be in violation of the requirement to notify Probation and Parole and KSP of the address change,” Chaffins said.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Traffic safety checkpoints

Chaffins said his deputies will coordinate with Kentucky State Police in conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout approved locations in Grayson County during the month of November and the remainder of 2022.

“We will be on the lookout for unrestrained occupants and/or impaired drivers,” Chaffins said.
