A pedestrian was killed Saturday while running across I-65 in Hardin County.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:30 when Hardin County deputies responded to the 900 block of Springfield Road on the report of a man behaving in an erratic manner, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies witnessed an unnamed male jump over a fence and attempt to run across the interstate. He was fatally struck in the southbound lanes.

The man, who Hardin County Sheriff John Ward told the newspaper was not from Kentucky, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation.
