A man who robbed an Elizabethtown convenience store at gunpoint is facing 35 years in prison after being found guilty in a Hardin County courtroom.
Nathaniel Lucas, 37, of Lake City, Florida, robbed the Speedway at 1040 North Mulberry Street last summer, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.
He robbed the store of $201 and a carton of cigarettes during the early morning hours of July 29, 2021, the newspaper reports. He was arrested by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office soon after the robbery at a nearby FiveStar Food Mart. He was carrying a duffel bag containing the money he had just stolen.
Lucas was found guilty of first-degree robbery, being a persistent felony offender, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence. The jury recommended a 35 year sentence.
