A Hartford man with recent felony convictions and who absconded from parole after being granted shock probation has been arrested after leading drug task force members on a pursuit from Fordsville to Falls of Rough.

Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4:25, Grayson County law enforcement was notified of a pursuit on Hwy 54 in Ohio County that was traveling east toward Grayson County.

According to Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force members, the pursuit began on Hwy 54 in Fordsville when police spotted an older model Ford Ranger pickup truck being driven by 30-year-old Dalton Wayne Doolin, of Hartford. Doolin, police said, had multiple felony warrants. A female in the truck, Olivia Helm, also had an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint filed against her regarding the use of the truck.

The chase, which reached speeds of 80 miles per hour, entered Grayson County and ended in the 3200 block of Bluebird Road at the intersection of Honeysuckle Lane in Falls of Rough when Doolin encountered a gate across the roadway (where county road maintenance ends).

He attempted to turn around, but task force members blocked Doolin from escaping.

Doolin was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), speeding 25 or more over the limit, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). He was also served with outstanding warrants, and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.

Doolin was convicted in Ohio County in May of this year for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He was also convicted in Daviess County in May for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

He is on probation until 2027.

Note: After being alerted to the chase, Grayson County Constable Mark Stanton arrived in the area but did not make contact with the pursuit, as Central Dispatch did not receive further information on the location of the chase until the pursuit was over.

Grayson County Deputy Justin Cockerel assisted at the scene.
