Autopsy results on four-year-old Serenity McKinney showed she suffered broken bones and was found stuffed in a suitcase.

The Bullitt County Coroner’s Office said McKinney, whose skeletal remains were found in February in a wooded area in the 1300 block of Skyview Road in West Point, suffered broken arms and legs and was discovered wrapped in plastic and stuffed in a suitcase.

WHAS11 first reported the findings after securing the autopsy report through an Open Records Request.

The autopsy found no “lethal trauma,” and did not offer a cause of death but ruled the girl’s death a homicide.

McKinney’s mother, 21-year-old Catherine “Abby” McKinney, and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Dakota Hill, were arrested in Colby, Kansas, on February 6, 2022, a week after relatives reported to police that they had not seen Serenity since Christmas Eve 2020.

McKinney and Hill have been charged with the girl’s murder. The pair has also been charged with abuse of a corpse.

Both suspects are being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center. Their murder trial is scheduled to begin in late January.
