Leitchfield Tourism this weekend offers music lovers of all varieties a roster of singers and bands worthy of admiration, beginning with Friday night’s concert by an award-winning Gospel performer.

On East Main Street Friday night, Gospel singer and musician Gordon Mote will take the stage. Since the early 1990s, the Christian country/Southern Gospel singer and musician has toured with Lee Greenwood, Trisha Yearwood, Porter Waggoner, and Tanya Tucker.

The Gadsden, Alabama, native is perhaps best known, though, for being a member of the Gaither Vocal Band.

He has won two Academy of Country Music Awards Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year and is a highly sought after studio musician. Mote has released nine albums.

Mote’s opening act on Friday will be Leitchfield’s own Dennis Cook, Pastor of Worship and Discipleship at First Baptist Church in Leitchfield.

Friday’s concerts begin at 6:45. The event is free. In the event of rain, the concerts will move to First Baptist Church.

On Saturday, the final East Main Market Street event will take place, featuring three bands and a Scare on the Square Halloween costume contest.

The free event begins at noon, as various food and retail vendors open shop. The first band, Dear Prudence, takes the stage at 1:00.

Beginning at 3:00, the Scare on the Square Costume Contest will take place.

Between 4:00 and 7:00, Nashville recording artist Leith Loftin and singer/songwriter Bobby Johnson will perform.

At 7:00, the night’s headliner, The Remedies, will take the stage. Described on their website as one of the southeast’s most in-demand cover bands, the group performs hits from Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Journey, Michael Jackson, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Bon Jovi, and ACDC.
