Local, state and federal law enforcement officers seized over two pounds of methamphetamine during a raid on a Laurel County motel room.
Laurel County Sheriff John Root said a joint investigation involving his office, the 75/80 Drug Interdiction Team, ATF, and Kentucky State Police led authorities to obtain a search warrant for a motel room in southern Laurel County Friday morning at approximately 3:15.
The room, police said, was occupied by 40-year-old Bradley J. Lawson, of Nicholasville, and 37-year-old Amy E. Johnson, of Corbin.
During a search of the room, law enforcement located nearly one kilo (2.2 pounds) of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia. Lawson, a convicted felon, was also found to be in possession of a handgun, according to Root.
Both suspects were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lawson was also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Both suspects were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. Lawson is being held on a $25,000 cash bond while Johnson is being held on two bonds totaling $20,000.\
