An Irvington man who accidentally shot and killed a man he was deer hunting with has been sentenced to probation.
Christopher B. Stone, 48, pled guilty on Wednesday to reckless homicide, a class D felony, and was sentenced to five years in prison, which will be probated for five years, according to news outlets.
His murder trial began Monday. Stone entered the guilty plea on Wednesday.
In November 2017, Stone was hunting with 39-year-old Nicholas L. Ford, of Brandenburg, off J.E. Haynes Road when Stone fired his rifle into an overgrown field surrounded by woods. The round struck Ford in the back. He was transported to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
In May 2018, Stone was indicted on a murder charge by a Breckinridge County Grand Jury.
The case was investigated by Kentucky State Police.
