The Grayson County Alliance’s (GCA) annual Ducking Hunger Regatta fundraiser was a rousing success as private citizens and businesses donated thousands of dollars to help provide Grayson County residents in need with food and other services.

The regatta, held at the Leitchfield Aquatic Center on Monday, raised over $9,000 for the Alliance’s Food Pantry, according to Executive Director Debbie Childress.

“Every day at the food pantry we are working to relieve some of the stress for families facing food insecurity. The Ducking Hunger Regatta is a fun way to raise funds and talk about the struggles families are facing in our community,” Childress said. “The Alliance is so blessed to have the support of the businesses and individuals for the Ducking Hunger Regatta, they make all the difference for the success of this event.”

The winner of this year’s “Duckeration” contest was The Cecilian Bank (entry pictured below).

The Cecilian Bank received the traveling trophy and “bragging rights for the year,” Childress said before adding, “The Cecilian Bank cracked me up with this one.”

GCA has been providing food and other support to families in need for over 21 years and currently assists an average of 800-plus families per month (over 1,600 individuals).
