A western Kentucky deputy jailer is facing accusations he solicited sexual activity from inmates along with other misconduct.

Webster County Jail Deputy Jailer Aaron Drewicz-Stewart, 29, of Dawson Springs, was charged on Friday with second-degree sexual abuse, three counts of promoting contraband, three counts of video voyeurism, and three counts of first-degree official misconduct.

A Kentucky State Police investigation revealed that Drewicz-Stewart solicited sexual activity from inmates “while on duty and in his official capacity.”

Police did not release further information. The promoting contraband charge, though, indicates the suspect is being accused of introducing contraband into the jail.

The relevant Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) describes second-degree sexual abuse as follows:

Being a jailer, or an employee, contractor, vendor, or volunteer of the Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, or a detention facility as defined in KRS 520.010, or of an entity under contract with either department or a detention facility for the custody, supervision, evaluation, or treatment of offenders, he or she subjects a person who is at least eighteen (18) years old and who he or she knows is incarcerated, supervised, evaluated, or treated by the Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, detention facility, or contracting entity, to sexual contact

Drewicz-Stewart is being held in the Hopkins County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
