There was a large police presence in the Quail Run subdivision beginning late Sunday afternoon as the Leitchfield Police Department was involved in a three hour standoff in the densely residential neighborhood.

At approximately 5:00 Sunday afternoon, police were dispatched to a home on Nancy Drive on the report of a man with a gun inside a residence. The man was threatening to harm himself.

Upon police arriving, the people who had been inside the residence with the subject met officers at the intersection of Nancy Drive and Mulberry Street, a few hundred yards from the home.

Within minutes, Police Chief David Riley and Detective Ian Renfrow arrived on the scene.

Police attempted to make contact with the subject, but at least initially the man refused to communicate with officers.

Just before 8:00, though, the standoff ended peacefully.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

K105 will additional information on this incident as it becomes available.
