An allegedly intoxicated teenager has been arrested after fleeing a Grayson County deputy on an ATV with a juvenile on board.
Sunday morning at approximately 1:00, Grayson County Deputy Nick Pruitt responded to a suspicious persons call in the 6200 block of Duff Road. When Pruitt arrived on scene, near the intersection of Duff and Shores Road, he encountered 18-year-old Landon J. McGill, of Goshen, “at a church … consuming alcoholic beverages,” according to the arrest citation.
Additionally, as Pruitt arrived, “several subjects ran into the woods,” as McGill fled the deputy on an ATV with a juvenile passenger, the citation states. But Deputy Justin Cockerell, who was also in the area, performed a traffic stop on McGill on Shores Road.
Upon making contact with McGill, police said he exuded an odor of alcohol. He was given a field sobriety test and arrested and charged with DUI (younger than 21), second-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place, criminal littering, and ATV violations.
The juvenile was released to a relative.
McGill was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
