An Anneta man accused of murdering his wife has been indicted by a Grayson County Grand Jury.

Orbay Wilson, 28, was indicted Monday for first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. He was given a $500,000 cash bond and is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The events began to unfold Wednesday afternoon, June 29, when the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Anneta Fire Department and EMS responded to what was initially reported as a suicide at 252 Decker School Road in Anneta.

Upon arriving at the residence, Sgt. Clay Boone and EMS personnel requested Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson after finding 23-year-old Lexus Chantell Wilson deceased from a single gunshot wound.

The focus of the joint sheriff’s office/coroner’s office investigation, though, quickly shifted from a suicide to a homicide.

“We obtained evidence that foul play may have been involved and that it may not have been a suicide,” Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said at the time.

Hudson, during the post mortem examination at the residence, noticed suspicious blood splatter evidence on the victim and then on the suspect, according to a person familiar with the investigation. That, along with other unusual circumstances, prompted the coroner’s office to notify the sheriff’s office that Orbay Wilson needed to be interrogated.

Kentucky State Police was then requested to assist in the investigation, with Detective James Gaither arriving on scene.

Orbay Wilson, who was questioned by Gaither at the Leitchfield Police Department, quickly admitted to killing his wife while she slept, according to a law enforcement source.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
