A Leitchfield man has been killed after the dump truck he was driving was struck by a train.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Daniel Priddy says troopers were requested to assist the Barren County Sheriff’s Office just before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The preliminary investigation indicated that 33-year-old Timothy Duvall, of Leitchfield, was operating a 2014 Mack dump truck southbound on State Quarry Road in Cave City.
Officials say that Duvall failed to see a CSX train traveling westbound. As he attempted to cross the railroad tracks, the dump truck was struck by the locomotive.
Duvall was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing and being led by KSP Trooper Walker Hogan. He was assisted at the scene by Barren County EMS, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Cave City Fire Department, the Coroner’s Office, and KSP personnel.
