Kentucky State Police is conducting a murder investigation in Grayson County.
Events began to unfold Wednesday afternoon at 4:20 when the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded to 252 Decker School Road on the report of a suicide. Upon arriving at the home, police found 23-year-old Lexus C. Wilson, deceased from a gunshot wound.
Soon after finding the body, Grayson Co. Sgt. Clay Boone and EMS personnel requested Grayson Co. Coroner Joe Brad Hudson.
“We obtained evidence that foul play may have been involved and that it may not have been a suicide,” Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said.
Kentucky State Police was notified by Chaffins, with KSP Detective James Gaither then assisting in the investigation.
That investigation led Gaither to question the victim’s husband, 28-year-old Orbay Wilson, of Anneta, at the Leitchfield Police Department. During questioning, according to the arrest citation, he confessed to shooting his wife while she slept.
Wilson was charged with murder (domestic violence) and tampering with physical evidence and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Gaither is leading the investigation.
The Anneta Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy.
K105 will have additional information on the investigation as it becomes available.
