A Brownsville man has been arrested after assaulting a child and fighting over a handgun “in close proximity to two juveniles,” according to the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said that on Sunday afternoon at approximately 5:50, deputies responded to the 3700 block of Brownsville Road on the report of a fight in progress, with a handgun present during the altercation.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located two adult males, one adult female, and two juveniles in the driveway of the residence. A female confirmed told law enforcement that the handgun in question was inside of an unoccupied vehicle.
Deputies retrieved a Taurus 9mm, which was found to be loaded, with a round in the chamber, according to the police.
After questioning all the subjects at the scene, deputies determined that one of the male subjects, 31-year-old Jordan K. Gray, of Brownsville, had physically assaulted a juvenile under the age of 12 before exiting the home with the handgun.
At that point, police said an altercation involving the gun ensued between Gray and another male subject, with the “the handgun altercation occurring in close proximity to the two juveniles and the female,” authorities said.
Gray was arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12).
He was lodged in the Hart County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
