A truck driver has been arrested in Ohio County for kidnapping a female juvenile from Indiana and engaging in sexual activity.

According to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified Saturday night that a missing juvenile from Dugger, Indiana — about 140 miles north of Ohio County – was in a tractor-trailer being driven by Joseph M. Lewis, 41, of Hustonville (Lincoln Co.).

The truck was located at Perdue Farms in Cromwell on Hwy 231 south.

Upon police arriving at the scene, deputies made contact with Lewis and the juvenile, “and through further investigation police discovered that Lewis had driven the juvenile across state lines into Kentucky without parental consent, depriving the juvenile’s father of custody,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies interviewed Lewis and the juvenile, according to police, and determined they had engaged in sexual acts.

Lewis was arrested and charged with kidnapping (minor), third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy. He is lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.

Assisting in the investigation were Kentucky State Police and the Dugger (IN) Police Dept.
