Grayson County High School tennis coach Sherry Vincent has been named the 3rd Region boys coach of the year.

With the designation, Vincent is now a finalist for the state coach of the year that is voted on annually by the Kentucky High School Tennis Coaches Association (KYHSTCA).

This year, the Cougar boys tennis team finished as the region runner-up. Additionally, Owen Brown and the doubles team of Griffin Powell and Chase Richardson also finished second in the region.

Earlier this week, Brown, Powell, and Richardson all competed in the KHSAA state tournament.

Brown made it to the round of 16 with Powell/Richardson losing in the round of 32.

The KYHSTCA coach of the year award was first awarded in 2019. On the boys’ side, Lexington Christian’s Kyle Macy and Greenwood’s Tim Dethridge have been winners of the award.

Vincent will find out if she is this year’s winner later this summer.
