Grayson County High School tennis is preparing for the KHSAA state tournament that is slated to start on Tuesday morning.
The Cougars will be sending a pair of entries to the tournament with both finding out their seeding over the weekend.
Owen Brown, who last week won his second straight region runner-up trophy, became the first boys singles player in school history to earn a seed in the state competition. A seed makes him one of the top 16 players in the field of 64 athletes.
Brown will face University Heights Academy’s Ethan Alexander on Tuesday at 7:00 am CT.
Joining him in Lexington is the doubles team of Griffin Powell and Chase Richardson. It will be their first appearance in the state tournament. The pair qualified after a region runner-up finish as well.
Powell/Richardson will play Whitefield Academy’s Peck/Harvey on Tuesday at 9:30 am CT.
The KHSAA tournament runs through Thursday and will be hosted at the University of Kentucky.
