For at least the third time in 30 days a school bus has crashed in Kentucky.

On Thursday afternoon, a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) bus wrecked on the Gene Snyder Freeway (Interstate 265), Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Aaron Ellis told news outlets.

The bus crashed at approximately 5:00 near the 32-mile marker between Westport Road and La Grange Road, in Louisville’s east end. The bus hydroplaned as it traveled south on the interstate, just as a JCPS bus did on May 4 on I-64, before coming to a stop in the median.

Four middle school students were on board. None were injured.

In the May 4 JCPS bus crash, 21 students were transported to Louisville hospitals but none were required to stay overnight.

In addition to the two recent Jefferson County bus crashes, on April 26, a McCracken County school bus was struck by an SUV about four miles west of Paducah, flipping the bus onto its side.

Nineteen Lone Oak Middle School students were transported to local hospitals. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV, a 17-year-old male, was airlifted to a Nashville hospital.
