A central Kentucky woman has been accused of murdering her two young children.

Monday night at approximately 7:30, first responders were dispatched to Parkway Manor Apartments in the 400 block of Rogers Road in Lexington on the report of a stabbing.

Upon arriving at the scene, Lexington police found three people suffering from multiple stab wounds. Two of the victims, five-year-old Skylar Williams and her brother, 13-year-old Deon Williams, later died at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, multiple media outlets report.

The third injured person, the deceased children’s mother, 43-year-old Nikki James, was soon identified as the killer. She has been charged with two counts of murder.

Police told news outlets that James is now in custody but she is not currently listed as an inmate at the Fayette County Detention Center.
