An eastern Kentucky mother has been jailed after her 10-year-old son called 911, saying his mother was on drugs and he was afraid she would hurt him and his three siblings.

The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Casey Ballinger, of Mt. Vernon, on Monday.

When police arrived at the home, Ballinger consented to a search where deputies located multiple hypodermic needles. She admitted to police that she used heroin, according to the sheriff’s office.

Police also said the conditions in the home were “deplorable.”

Ballinger was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center on a $30,000 cash/property bond.

Her four children, all 10-years-old or younger, were removed from the home.
