A Lee County middle school teacher has been accused of having “inappropriate physical contact” with a student.

Courtney Horn, 32, of Beattyville, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy. She was released from Three Forks Regional Detention Center after posting a $20,000 property bond.

Horn, who has since been terminated, was a Health and PE teacher at Lee County Middle School.

“Student safety is the top priority of the Lee County School District and we will not tolerate behavior that puts the physical or social emotional well-being of our students at risk,” the school district wrote in a letter to parents.

Lee County Schools officials, upon being made aware of the allegations, notified Kentucky State Police. That agency is leading the investigation.
