A Waste Tire Collection event begins on Thursday.

Grayson County, in partnership with the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, is sponsoring the event where, free of charge, residents of Kentucky may dispose of unwanted tires at the Leitchfield Transfer Station at 315 West Lake Drive.

Tires may be disposed of on Thursday or Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and noon.

Tires will be accepted both on and off rims.

Tires accepted include passenger and truck tires, farm implement tires, lawn tractor tires, motorcycle and bicycle tires, and golf cart tires.

Tires NOT ACCEPTED include large over the road tires, tracks, sheet rubber tires, calcium or otherwise filled tires, and any tire with a bead greater than 1.75 inches.

Tires from tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards and recycle facilities will not be accepted.

Officials ask residents to drop off tires only during the prescribed hours.
