A U.S. Marine from eastern Kentucky killed in a helicopter crash during a NATO training exercise in Norway has been honored in a ceremony before being returned to the U.S.

Cpl. Jacob M. Moore, 24, of Catlettsburg (Boyd Co.), and the three other marines who perished when their MV-22B Osprey helicopter crashed, were honored during a transfer ramp ceremony in Bodø, Norway, on Friday, according to military officials.

Moore and the three other Marines were honored by hundreds of Marines and sailors before being placed on an Air National Guard C-130 aircraft for their return home.

The deadly crash occurred on March 18 and, in addition to Cpl. Moore, killed Matthew J. Tomkiewicz, 27, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Ross A. Reynolds, 27, of Leominster, Massachusetts; and Gunnery Sgt. James W. Speedy, 30, of Cambridge, Ohio.

Their bodies arrived at Dover Air Force Base on Friday night.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Norwegian police reported bad weather in the area around the time of the accident.
