A Caneyville man who absconded from parole and who has been on multiple Grayson County Most Wanted lists (including the current list) has been captured with essential assistance from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office new K-9 Officer.
Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:00, a Kentucky State Trooper spotted 37-year-old Joseph R. Parks on Morgantown Street. Parks fled the trooper on foot into the Center Street area of Caneyville, near what is commonly referred to as Dewey’s Trailer Park.
Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress and K-9 Officer Zeus then responded to the scene.
Within only a few minutes of arriving, Zeus tracked Parks for more than 230 yards, authorities said, leading police directly to the suspect, who was then arrested.
He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center, where, in addition to his latest charges, including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), giving an officer false identifying information and possession of drug paraphernalia, he was charged with fleeing or evading police (on foot).
Parks was convicted in September 2021 in Grayson County for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), theft by unlawful taking (more than $500), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections (KDC).
He was additionally convicted in September 2021 for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). That conviction arose after Parks was arrested in October 2020 by Grayson County deputies during a traffic stop on Watershed Road.
