The man arrested in Custer after fatally shooting a man in Hodgenville has agreed to a plea deal.
Timothy R. Hedges, 23, of Hodgenville, agreed to an amended charge of second-degree manslaughter, according to The News-Enterprise, in the shooting death of 21-year-old Levi G. Sheroon, of Mt. Sherman. He was originally charged with murder.
Hedges was sentenced to nine years in prison.
KSP Post 4 spokesman Scotty Sharp said at the time that detectives were conducting a death investigation in Hodgenville after the shooting on Dana Drive, about a quarter-mile from LaRue County High School. The shooting occurred during the late-night hours of September 30, 2020.
According to Sharp, Sheroon suffered a gunshot wound to his chest as he sat in his girlfriend’s vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at Baptist Health Hardin.
The newspaper reports that Hedges brandished a firearm and placed it against Sheroon’s shoulder. Hedges said, “What’s up?” to the victim with Sheroon replying, “Just do it.”
Hedges then fired once into Sheroon’s chest and fled the scene. He was arrested a few days later in Custer by Kentucky State Police.
