Parents and others have only two more days to complete a short survey that seeks the community’s participation in the hiring of a principal at Grayson County High School.

“Grayson County High School is seeking family and community input on the qualities desired for a new principal as the selection process begins,” school officials said.

In seeking comment, the school district has composed a 13 question survey. The survey, found by clicking here, inquires about desirable leadership skills, points of emphasis, the importance of creating culture, and management style, among several other facets of leadership.

The Grayson County High School Site Based Decision-Making Council established the criteria for the selection of the new principal, officials said. The survey, which has been available on the school district’s website for several days, must be completed by Friday, February 25 at 3:00 p.m.

Cox serving as interim principal

In November 2021, then-Principal Josh Baldwin was promoted to Director of Pupil Personnel to replace the retiring Sonny Prunty. GCHS Assistant Principal Lacy Cox was tabbed as interim principal effective January 1, 2022.

Baldwin was hired as principal in May 2018.

In selecting Cox as interim principal, Superintendent Doug Robinson praised her as ideal for the role.

“Lacy is a tremendous asset to Grayson County Schools and to GCHS,” Robinson said. “Her creativity and passions for learning and for people make her a perfect fit for this role.”
