A man has been killed in an officer-involved shooting in Elizabethtown.

Kentucky State Police Post 4 Public Affairs Officer Scotty Sharp said that at 5:43 Tuesday evening the Elizabethtown Police Department requested state police investigate an officer-involved shooting.

The Kentucky State Police Critical Response arrived at the scene on Pleasant View Drive, parallel to North Dixie Highway in a densely residential area, and found a deceased adult male. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.

The Elizabethtown officer had been dispatched to the residence for “a serious domestic violence offense,” EPD spokesman Chris Denham told The News-Enterprise. At some point, the officer fired his weapon, striking the man.

The identity of the suspect has not been released. An autopsy will be performed at the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.

The officer’s name has also not yet been released.
